IT WAS THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE—IT ALWAYS IS

IT WAS THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE—IT ALWAYS IS

Sitting at the dinner table and lingering after a delicious meal has always been my favorite part of a party. I love when the table, still cluttered with plates, silver, bottles, and glasses half-full, all shimmering in the candle light. Everyone dawdling, their voices excited with stories while eruptions of laughter punctuate the night and the last of the wine is savored as the time slides by.

For Mother’s Day, Tony, and Theo, my brother and sister-in-law, hosted dinner. Theo asked that I bring a photo of my mother-in-law to add it with the other photos of our mothers. What a lovely idea.

As we sat and ate, our conversation revolved around our families. They weren’t all good memories, but they were real and powerful. And since we’ve all known each other for a very long time the conversation was poignant.

Then the question “What good memories do you remember about your mother/parents?” was asked. And as we finished our meal, we each spent a few moments recalling when we felt loved, what made us feel special—remembering the good times. Since it’s more acceptable and easier to talk about the pain and the disappointment in our lives; putting the loving memories into words was powerful and a beautiful way to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Lingering at the dinner table was once again the perfect place to be.

Follow Along and see how I do with my outrageous goal 2022
Here is what's happening with my 2022 goals
  • We're in the process of shifting the blog from the old format to the new one. It's exciting but it does take time and we still need to test it to be sure everything works. I'm telling you this because when you start making adjustment gremlins may appear and when that happens they like to cause mischief. If that happens let me know and we'll try to fix it.
  • Amazon, has finally added pages to the "Look Inside" option of my book. I wish they'd added more pages but since I have no say in the ones they choose I have to wait and ask them to add more later.
  • The video and the tip sheets I'm working on are progressing.

Easy peel hard-boiled eggs—perfect every time
Easy peel hard-boiled eggs—perfect every time

May 19, 2022

There is something perfect about cracking a hard-boiled egg and sliding your fingers under the shell so it pops away from the white in a few big pieces and you are left with this beautiful glistening egg. You particularly know how satisfying that experience is when you expect it but don’t have it. Here is how...

I AM DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF

So far, 2022 has shaken me to my core. It has left me questioning things I believed to be true—things I took for granted. Number 1 I NEVER thought Roe v. Wade would be overturned. That is my stupidity; the signs were obvious but I just didn’t believe it could/would happen. Number 2 I NEVER thought . . .

BOARDING SCHOOL—GOOD AND BAD MEMORIES
BOARDING SCHOOL—GOOD AND BAD MEMORIES

April 28, 2022 1 Comment

When I was in boarding school, I had a really hard time adjusting to the food. Going to the dining room for meals was my least favorite activity. They served an abundance of carbs along with heavy sauces that covered up mounds of food I was never able to identify. But there was one thing that I loved. . .
