To say that Christmas is going to be different this year isn’t something any of us need to hear—we already know it.
To balance out being in this new place, I find myself turning to memories of Christmas past:
Our holidays are filled with cheer and the love of the traditions that are sown from our memories as well as our hearts. Full of the wonder and joy that made us hope the holidays would hurry and arrive and never depart.
Our lives are imbued with the customs that make us who we are. We take the time to create our holidays by turning our homes inside and out, filling them with glitter and glow and the sparkle that sends out our joy for all to see. We fill the kitchen with cookies and cookies and cookies and more, singing our carols by the fire that warms our heart's desires, awaiting friends at our door.
Our families gather together, savoring the smells and pleasures that evoke a time when we knew without question that the magic we remember was true, the enchantment and the joy were palpable, and we cherished it all, knowing that we would have it year after year.
This year, if we can, let’s try to imbue Christmas with the joy and memories that have brought us such delight and let the magic begin to fill our hearts.
Merry Christmas and Joyeux noel,
-Adeline
