If Getting Dressed is More Stress Then Fun - READ THIS!

Do you find yourself staring at your closet and trying on outfit after outfit until you finally find something that works? You leave the house with piles of clothes covering a chair and feeling stressed. Your conclusion...you have nothing to wear better go shopping.

That was me for years until I remembered how French women dress and it isn’t about having more clothes, it is about having less. The 3 steps that brought back my smile and style . . .

1. Basics

I started depending on my 6 piece basic wardrobe. (if you want to read the 6 pieces blog http://bit.ly/6BASICS) French women make certain that their basics are good quality and fit them perfectly. It is not their only wardrobe, but the basics are the pieces they depend on. Having those basics gives me the security and confidence to know I have something to wear.

2. Accessories

French women have learned that to make a basic wardrobe work they need accessories not more clothes. They depend on scarves, jewelry, shoes, and handbags to create their unique style.

3. Research

Inspiration is essential. French women look for inspiration everywhere. If you want to create your look you need to have ideas. Magazines and online sites are good resources. I spend time looking and clipping ideas to create an idea board. When I need ideas I glance at my board for inspiration. The more ideas I have the easier it is to create a look I like.

Between My 6 basic pieces, my accessories, and my idea-board, getting dressed is a lot more fun and much, much, easier. In this case, less is really more!

Having a foundation of basic, solid pieces is essential to any good wardrobe...I recently lost a lot of weight but went overboard buying cute tops and way too many pairs of jeans, to the point I felt stressed getting dressed rather than excited to fit into a smaller and more flattering size for my body. Realized it was precisely because of my excess pieces that weren’t practical for my lifestyle! Thanks for posting this article.
