Is it possible to be chic wearing the same outfit every day?

Growing up one of our neighbors, a very elegant woman wore the same outfit every day. She had a uniform, though no one thought of it that way. Her look was chic and no one ever questioned her or thought she was weird; on the contrary, she was stunning! I remember looking at her and wondering about her choice, but only with awe.

I asked her son if he had a photo of her to show you, but he reminded me that she didn't like having her picture taken and wasn't able to find one. That's unfortunate. Her outfit was simple: a white shirt, blue jeans, a red belt, red shoes, and of course, red lipstick-it was simple and chic.

When she opened her closet it was full of white shirts and pairs of jeans. She didn't need to stand there and wonder what to put on she's already made that decision! Let me just say that when it was time to dress up she had a fabulous wardrobe and always looked great.

My gut tells me that I should wear something completely different every day, but the question is, is it really necessary?

When I think back on Mrs. M. I'm reminded that style is far more than a change of clothes. Style is about attitude and confidence and when you add those to the clothes you wear you have something that is far more powerful than a simple change of clothes. You have allure.

Merriam-Webster's definition of Allure is to entice by charm or attraction. Notice it doesn't say to entice by the clothes you wear. I think for me the answer is yes as a basic day-to-day look I'd love it. I'm moving more and more towards that with my blog post The 6 Pieces that changed everything. Or 4 Parties one dress here is how. It's clear what I'm not willing to do is limit or give up my accessories! Nothing doing, that's where all the fun happens for me! That's how I make my statement, whether it's just a few pieces or I go all out. What I'm expressing is me and I love doing that.
